Roundy's to Donate $1,726 Worth of Food to Second Harvest Food Bank Following Celebrity Shopping Cart Race at Pick 'n Save in West Allis
West Allis, WI, November 7, 2008 - Roundy's Supermarkets is pleased to announce that it will donate $1,726 to America's Second Harvest of Wisconsin after a Celebrity Shopping Cart Race held today at the Pick 'n Save located at 11111 W. Greenfield Avenue in West Allis. The Klement's Racing Sausages cheered on local radio DJs and television personalities as they raced around Pick 'n Save to collect food. The Celebrity Shopping Cart Race kicked off the 11th Annual Stuff the Bus food drive.
Here are the results of today's race: Kidd O'Shea of 99.1 WMYX and Justin Williams of FOX6 News came in first place with $824.09 worth of food. Mike Jacobs of Today's TMJ4 and Bonnie Bellehuneur of America's Second Harvest of Wisconsin took second place with $468.78 worth of food. And Emily Engberg and Rebecca Gehle of CBS58 News took third place with $433.89 worth of food. Each team had 99 seconds to run through the aisles and collect as much food as possible. The team with the highest receipt total won the race. The grand total of $1,726 worth of food is being donated by Roundy's, representing the first donation to Stuff the Bus.
The 11th Annual Stuff the Bus food drive takes place on November 26, 2008 at the Pick 'n Save store located at 11111 W. Greenfield Avenue in West Allis. The one day marathon food drive begins at 5 a.m. and wraps up at 6 p.m. This year, the goal is to collect 200,000 pounds of food. Customers are asked to bring nonperishable food items to help feed the hungry in Wisconsin this holiday season. The most needed food items include canned fruits and vegetables, canned soups, rice, beans, tuna, cereal, peanut butter and jelly. The drive is also accepting frozen turkeys and monetary donations.
