Record Crowd Attends Rainbow Grand Opening in Roseville
Roseville Area Schools Receive $2,500 for TOPS Program
Roseville, MN, October 6, 2008 - One customer yelled 'beautiful.' Another cried 'we've been waiting for this
store' as roughly 3,100 customers poured through the doors for the grand opening party of the new Rainbow in Roseville. Located at 1201 Larpenteur Avenue, the new store replaces the Rainbow that operated in the same place for more than three decades. It was torn down in April to make way for its updated replacement. The new store is 60,000-plus square-feet and provides our great customer base in Roseville with a state-of-the-art store, complete with more choices across all departments and energy efficient lighting.
Vivian King, director of public affairs at Roundy's, emceed the ribbon cutting e
vent as store and local officials did the honors. King, store director Scott Ostrom and director of area operations Rob Engel then presented $2,500 to the Targeted Opportunities for Success program known as TOPS. TOPS is a before and after school tutoring program run by the Roseville Area Schools to help students struggling in math and reading.
"Our children need us to help them to grow up to be successful and productive citizens, and their education is key to their success," said Robert Mariano, Roundy's Chairman and CEO. "When our kids are having trouble in school, a program like TOPS is crucial. We are glad to be able to help."
The grand opening party had a "Fall Celebration" theme and included face painting, a chance to win prizes and music provided by the Roseville Area High School Band. Roseville leaders and area residents also saw all that the new store has to offer: sushi bar, fresh sandwiches, salad bar, specialty cheese department, expanded fresh produce department, drive-through pharmacy and full-service meat, seafood, deli, bakery and floral departments. A brat fry in the store's parking lot raised more than $300 for the Roseville Area High School Band.
There was no shopping during the grand opening party. The store opens for business Tuesday, October 7, from 6 a.m. to midnight.
